Vaideki Falls



Vaideki Falls is a waterfall situated in Coimbatore District about 35 km from Coimbatore City. The nearest town is Narisipuram.

The falls is very beautiful and has a naturally formed slope where one can glide in as in water theme parks. It is located inside the forest and its better obtain permission before entering the forest, neverthless you can go. This area of forest has lot of animal movements; especially elephants. There are lot of incidents of elephants attacking humans, so it is always advisable to obtain permission and get some guards accompanying while entering the forest. The ambience and atmosphere inside the forest is worth the few kilometers' trek into the forest. To reach Veideki one has to catch the following buses from railway station: 21c, 99, 64c, 64, or any buses that go to Thondamuttur Village. From Thondamuttur Village one can wait for the bus number: 21a. 21a can also be caught from Gandhi Puram or Railway station. One of the Bus arrives at Railway station at 06.50 am, 09.30 am and it goes on. 21a is the best direct bus available, both from thondamuttur and railway station. Ticket prices may varry from rs. 10 to rs. 30 (one way not round trip.). From Narsipuram Village one has to take a road that any one would tell if asked "Where is Veideki". Once they put you on that road, you will have to walk for may be 4-6 Km. One might think that it is a wrong way but there is only one 7 km. After about 5 km, one will smell the first stream of the water of veideki below a small white bridge. Then Hopes are revived. Long road that will eventually end at the start of a hilly forest. then one has to trek on that muddy path for about 2-3 k.m. During the climb one suddenley here water gushing followed by silence and at last one will automatically know when the falls appears that their hard work is rewarded. On the way you might even see elephants very close to you, or at least elephant dungs. Visitors are advised not to take it lightly. Elephant is the biggest threat on that part of the forest where if you go early morning or late evening, you can be sure to find one and believe it or not, there, elephants can be a lot faster than you. You might even trip and fall while trying to run. Snakes are a Common sight (often found basking on rocks or in between rocks where you might have taken bath.)
